ART AGAINST VIOLENCE

In Mexico KCF has been supporting Xico Arte, a local collective, since 2015. Xico Arte visits schools in the Valle de Chalco on the outskirts of Mexico City to teach local history and traditions and hold art workshops. The collective operates in a community with high crime and unemployment rates. It works in close cooperation with the small Xico Museum that was funded by local residents over twenty five years ago to preserve the art and culture of the region.

OFFICIAL STATUS

With help from KCF and KONE Mexico, Xico Arte formalized its status as a not-for-profit association in 2017 and improved its operating procedures and administrative practices. Going forward the aim is to strengthen this new NGO, Arte y Cultura Xico A.C.
