COVID relief for families in Westbury, Johannesburg, South Africa

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, KCF has supported Westbury Youth Centre (WYC)/Mashup to help families in Westbury, Johannesburg, South Africa cope with the crisis. In 2020, about 2 000 people received food aid from the WYC.

In 2021, with KCF’s continuous support, WYC/Mashup provided COVID relief aid to over 300 vulnerable families in Westbury from July to December. In addition, 60 children from poor families also received Christmas gifts prepared by WYC/Mashup. On Christmas Day, 150 families and their children in Westbury enjoyed a Christmas meal offered by WYC/Mashup. 

Moreover, to explore a sustainable way of offering COVID relief support to families in need in the community, WYC/Mashup allocated funding to re-start a garden program in the Centre.

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, KCF’s response has been focused on supporting covid relief programs initiated by community-based nonprofit organisations. In 2021, KCF’s COVID relief donations have reached over 2,141 families in marginalised communities quickly and efficiently in Mexico, India, South Africa and Thailand.
